Durant founded the Chevrolet Motor Company in Detroit in association with, among others, the Swiss racing driver, automobile engineer and namesake Louis Chevrolet, with the aim of regaining control of the General Motors Company, which he had previously lost due to financial irregularities.

The Chevrolet Corvette is one of THE American sports car from General Motors that has been produced in eight generations so far since June 1953.

This offered Corvette C1 was first registered on 30.11.1956.

It is a very rare pre-facelift model with single headlights and less chrome than the post-facelift models. 95% of all offered Corvettes C1 are post-facelift models with double headlights, which makes this model even rarer.
The 4.6L fuel injection V8 engine with 283 horsepower and a 4-speed manual transmission subline the rarity of this model.
Besides the rare fuel injection, 95% of the Corvettes were equipped with a 2 speed automatic transmission what makes this manual shifter even rarer and more fun to drive.

This C1 received a complete restoration in 2014 and had been reliably driven around 4.000 km since then.
The white exterior paint with silver wings on the doors shows up in brilliant condition with no signs of damage or usage and the red Interieur still appears like new.
As the seating comfort in the Corvette was limited due to the large steering wheel and the long steering column, a smaller steering wheel and a shortened steering column were subsequently installed by the current owner, as well as electric power steering, resulting in considerably easier handling overall. Of course, the original steering wheel and steering column are with the car like also the original hardtop and the original radio “wonderbar”.

Conclusion: The Corvette is technically and visually in top condition and, due to the year of manufacture, manual gearbox, fuel injection … very rare. With this Corvette, one can participate in any “Concours dÉlegance” in the world and will probably never meet a better one.
