BMW 1800 Touring

The first BMW Touring had one crucial problem: it came too early. The time was not yet ripe for it when it joined the 02 model range in 1971. It remained in the range for only four years, and only 23,630 examples rolled off the production line as the BMW touring 1600, touring 1800, touring 2000 and touring 2002 ti.

If the rear seats and backrests were folded down completely, refrigerators, washing machines and the like could be transported on the flat load floor. The entry-level model, the BMW touring 1600, cost from 10,940 marks, the top model with a two-litre injection engine was 15,100 marks (2002 tii Touring).

But in July 1974, the first BMW Touring finally came to an end. Production ends after only 23,630 units have been built. The best-selling models were the top-of-the-range BMW 2000 Touring with 100 hp carburettor engine (12,790 units) and the 130 hp 2000 tii. The 1600 found 4,392 buyers, the 1800 exactly 4,074 (3,099 Touring 1800, 975 Touring 1802). The rarest model is the BMW 2002 tii Touring, of which only 724 were produced in one year.

This 1971 first series BMW 1800 Touring  is a parkhouse treasure. A friend of us found it parked in a Garage in Berlin.

The 2nd owner drove it until May 2019. He then decided to restore the Car to bring it back to its former glory.

He parked the car in the heated garage to wait until he got the money together for his beloved Touring. He never came to that point as he passed away shortly after.

The car comes with 5 Folders full of documents. The first Pappbrief, all keys, service book, manual, repair manuals, magazines, advertisings and probably almost every bill of the whole car`s life.
